Various Leica software modules for metallographic analysis

Accurate and reproducible grain size analysis

Analyze the grain size with the LAS X Grain Expert software module to gather information about metals and alloys, e.g., tensile and yield strength, elongation at fracture, and ductile-brittle transition temperature. It covers multiple international standards like ASTM E112, DIN/EN/ISO 643, etc.

Phase analysis with better detection accuracy

Perform precise analysis of multiple phases and microstructures, measuring area percentages of metals, with the LAS X Phase Expert software module. It employs high bit-depth or HDR images and accurate detection algorithms to investigate subtle phase differences.

Steel quality rating

Ensure steel quality with the LAS X Steel Expert analysis software. It helps you rate accurately and quickly non-metallic inclusions and meet international, regional, and organizational standards for various industries. A number of standards can be licensed, such as ISO 4967, EN 10247, ASTM E45, DIN 50602, etc.

Structural analysis of cast iron

Quickly analyze graphite microstructures in nodular/ductile or compacted cast iron with the LAS X Cast Iron Expert software module. It automatically identifies type, shape, size, and distribution of graphite nodules, adhering to international standards like ASTM A247, ISO 945-2, and JIS G 5502. You can also determine the ferrite/pearlite ratio and rapidly analyze graphite, ferrite, and pearlite in parallel.

Surface carbon depletion in heat treated steel

Ensure the quality of tempered steel with the LAS X Decarburization Expert module. It is suitable for analyzing carbon depletion in steel caused by heat treatment. This software allows you to analyze the functional decarburization depth. Multiple international standards, such as ASTM 1077, DIN 50192, ISO/DIN/EN 3887, etc., are covered.

Flexible-to-use tools for stereology-based structural analysis

Turn the LAS X 2D Measurement module into a versatile toolbox for stereological analysis of metal samples with the LAS X Metallography Toolbox. Simplify manual tasks when defining parameters for calibrated measurements, such as baseline lengths, lineal intercepts, point counting, segments of circles, etc. You can assign individual classes to measurements and generate component and phase-specific results.
