For me personally, the topic of apprenticeship is of great importance, as apprenticeship lays the foundation for personal and professional growth. It is important to me to equip our trainees with the knowledge and necessary skills so that they are well prepared for their future.

Leica Microsystems is a very large company, so you have the opportunity to get a taste of every area - even during my apprenticeship, which mainly centered on marketing. Throughout your apprenticeship, you have many opportunities for further training, such as presentation courses or the Cambridge certificate.
In the end, I was able to shorten my apprenticeship by a whole year and now have the opportunity to continue with a dual study program.
Mechatronics Technician
Apprenticeship as a Mechatronics Technician
Are you interested in mechanical and electronic processes and looking for a versatile profession where you can apply your technical knowledge practically? Then the apprenticeship as a Mechatronics Technician is just right for you.
Your interest in technical topics will benefit you during the apprenticeship. You will learn the basics in both mechanics and electronics and get insights into working with optical components. Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to work in areas such as system assembly or service.
Duration of Apprenticeship: The apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years, and you will attend vocational school directly in Wetzlar. Industrial Clerk (d/f/m)
Apprenticeship Industrial Clerk (d/f/m)
Is organization your strength? Are you communicative, do you enjoy speaking English, and are you proficient in using a PC? Then become part of Leica Microsystems and gain valuable experience in an international company.
You will gain insights into the internal processes and workflows of various departments such as procurement, human resources, and marketing. Early on, you will work on your own projects and be able to contribute your ideas. During your training, you will be in daily contact with the English language and have the opportunity to participate in the Cambridge program, an English language course with a certificate of completion.
Duration of Apprenticeship: 2 years

Precision Optician
Apprenticeship Precision Optician
Do you enjoy practical work and want to contribute to the production of the core components of our microscopes during your apprenticeship? Then the apprenticeship as a Precision Optician is just right for you.
Your manual skills will benefit you throughout the apprenticeship. You will manufacture optical components and assemblies, learn various processing methods, technologies, and measuring instruments.
Duration of Apprenticeship: The apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years, with school and practical phases alternating every 4-6 weeks. You will attend vocational school directly in Wetzlar.
What to expect
- Practical Application: During the apprenticeship, you can directly apply the scientific and technical knowledge acquired in vocational school to practical situations.
- Creating Optical Components: The work begins with a glass block, which, through the process, is formed into a high-quality optical component such as lenses, prisms, or mirrors.
- Varied Tasks: You will encounter varied tasks, ranging from manual work like lapping, grinding, and polishing to working with CNC machines and state-of-the-art measurement technology.
- Comprehensive Insight: During the apprenticeship, you will get to know the different areas of our precision optics and gain a comprehensive insight into the exciting fields of work that await you after the apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering
Are you skilled in craftsmanship and want to ensure that everything in the company runs smoothly, both technically and electronically?
During your apprenticeship as an Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering, you will learn how to install, maintain, and repair various electrical systems and components. Your tasks will include everything from switchgear and control systems to power supply systems and communication and lighting technology. You will acquire extensive knowledge in electrical engineering, ranging from low voltage to high voltage, mechanics, and industrial engineering.
Training duration: 3,5 years

Dual study program
Dual study program
Would you like to combine your studies with practical experience? Then the dual study program at Leica Microsystems is just right for you.
Whether it's business administration, mechanical engineering, business informatics, or international marketing – we offer various dual study programs. As a dual student, you will spend your practical phases with us in the company, where you will be assigned your own projects and write your practical work.
During the rest of the time, you can fully concentrate on your studies while continuing to receive your apprentice salary.

- Combination of theory and practice: Combine theory with practice in our company through the dual study program.

1. Application via the Job Portal
Please apply online with your application documents through the job portal. Your application documents should include a resume, your certificates or internship confirmations, and ideally a cover letter. 3. Assesement
Once we have reviewed your application documents, we may invite you to an assessment/ aptitude test, which lasts approximately 45-60 minutes and will likely take place online.
4. Interview Phase
Once we have reviewed the results of your aptitude test, you may be invited to a first interview. The first interview usually takes place as a virtual meeting via Microsoft Teams and lasts about 20-30 minutes. After the interview, you will receive timely feedback from us and may be invited to a second interview. The second interview usually takes place on-site and includes practical tasks as well as a tour of the areas you will get to know during your apprenticeship/dual study program. Thus, in the second interview, you can get a good impression of Leica Microsystems as your potential training company.
5. Decision / Hiring Phase
After the second interview, we will get back to you with feedback. If we would like to offer you an apprenticeship/dual study program, we will inform you about the next steps in this phase.
Until the start of the apprenticeship/dual study program, you will regularly receive information from us, preparing you well for your start in our company.
