6 December 2021, London, United Kingdom. The opening ceremony of the Sir Michael Uren Hub in White City on 6th December was attended by representatives from Leica Microsystems. As key partners of the prestigious Imperial College London in the field of optical imaging and its use, Leica helps Imperial drive forward research and innovation through the next generation of biomedical engineering research. Both Imperial campuses in South Kensington and White City are equipped with cutting-edge imaging solutions from Leica Microsystems, such as THUNDER imaging systems and STELLARIS confocal microscope systems.
The new Sir Michael Uren building features state-of-the-art laboratory and office facilities, which will drive clinical translation of MedTech innovation through integrated clinical and imaging facilities. Together with the adjacent Translation and Innovation Hub (I-HUB), it brings together over 500 engineers, clinicians, and scientists to develop the affordable medical technologies of the future.
In January 2021, Leica Microsystems announced a long-term partnership with Imperial College London in the field of optical imaging and its use in research and innovation, to set up a dedicated imaging hub at Imperial with advanced confocal and widefield microscopy systems. Based at Imperial College London’s White City and South Kensington Campuses, the Leica and Imperial Imaging Hub will provide advanced, efficient systems for biomedical imaging that will bring together expertise from across the scientific community. The Hub will also serve as a platform for Imperial and Leica Microsystems to maintain a close dialogue on the value of microscopy in development and research applications, as well as to collaborate on joint research projects.
